HOPKINS, Minn. - Southbound Highway 169 was closed Friday morning due to crash involving multiple vehicles.
The initial crash involving a van and a sedan happened near the Excelsior Boulevard exit just before 6 a.m. Following the crash, other drivers attempted to change lanes, lost traction and then hit other vehicles.
The State Patrol says a total of 22 drivers were involved in the crashes. Three of those drivers were injured. One driver was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The highway near Excelsior Boulevard remained closed for nearly three hours and long backups were seen on southbound 169 as a result of the closure during the morning commute.
Highway 169 re-opened around 8:35 a.m.
The KARE 11 Sunrise team was reporting on the situation as MnDOT traffic cameras showed another crash live on air just before 6 a.m. Friday.
