Teen fatally struck in St. Louis Park ID'd

Authorities have identified the victim as 15-year-old Daunte Jamal Moore.

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. - A 15-year-old boy is dead after being hit by a vehicle in St. Louis Park Thursday night, according to Minnesota State Patrol.

The crash happened just after 6 p.m. at Highway 7 and Texas Ave. It temporarily shut down part of Highway 7.

Authorities have identified the victim as 15-year-old Daunte Jamal Moore.

Investigators say a 59-year-old man from Minnetonka was driving westbound on Highway 7 and proceeded through a green light at the intersection. After going through the intersection, he hit the teen, who was in the left lane.

The vehicle then pushed the teen into eastbound traffic where he was hit by another vehicle driven by a 24-year-old man from Minnetonka, the State Patrol said.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, according to troopers. However, they say the boy may have been distracted by his cellphone and that he may have been making or receiving a phone call when he stepped onto the highway.
