Woman escapes kidnapping, attempted rape in Brooklyn Park

Police say a man recently threatened a woman with a knife and forced her to drive to another location, attempting to rape her.

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. - A woman recently escaped a kidnapping and attempted rape in Brooklyn Park, police say.

On May 12, shortly after 8 p.m., police were called to an attempted kidnapping in the Aldi Grocery parking lot at 7600 Brooklyn Blvd.

Police say a black male, in his teens, standing 5'4" with a slender build, threatened a woman with a knife and forced her to drive to another location. The suspect then attempted to rape the woman. Police say she was able to escape and call 911.

Police have surveillance video of the suspect as well as a portion of the assault. They add he was wearing a black zip-up jacket, jeans (possibly blue) and dark-colored tennis shoes. He also covered his nose and mouth with a royal blue bandana.
