WATCH: Eruption in Golden Valley cakes cars, businesses

An eruption in Golden Valley was captured on security video.

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - An explosion hit Golden Valley and it was all caught on camera.

Witnesses told KARE 11 construction crews were working on the east side of Winnetka Avenue around 2:30 p.m. Friday when a hose apparently became clogged, built up with pressure and eventually blew, spewing a thick, wet substance into the air, hitting nearby cars and buildings.

The eruption was captured on security video at Mach 1 Car Audio and Security at the corner of Winnetka Ave North and Golden Valley Road.

"I'm sitting at the counter with a customer and all of the sudden I see it start to bubble up and literally a four-foot wave just goes gushing across the street. It was just a tsunami of cement," Cory Curtis, owner of Mach 1 Car Audio and Security, said at the time. "The Cadillac was covered in an inch of cement. Other cars were covered. The whole store was covered."

Witnesses said it was cement, however, Center Point Energy said the crew was pumping water and mud, not cement, through a pipe when the explosion occurred. The crew on scene, Minnesota Limited, quickly got to work cleaning up the spill.

Definitely not the way to start a weekend.
