NCAA searches for more than 2,000 Final Four volunteers in Minnesota

WANTED: More than 2,000 volunteers for the 2019 NCAA Men's Final Four event in April of next year.

MINNEAPOLIS - The NCAA and Minneapolis Local Organizing Committee are calling out to Minnesotans for their help with an upcoming sports event.

The 2019 NCAA Men's Final Four event is being held in Minneapolis between April 6-8, 2019. More than 2,000 volunteers are still needed to help set up and host the event.

Sixty-eight teams compete in the Final Four single-elimination tournament. The winning team is the men's National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I college basketball national champion for the 2018-19 season.

Volunteers must be able to commit to three (3), four-hour shifts between April 5-8, 2019.

Here are the requirements to be a Final Four volunteer, according to the NCAA:

  1. Must be at least 18 years old by March 1, 2019 to participate
  2. Must be friendly, outgoing and dedicated
  3. Must be flexible and able to adapt quickly to change
  4. Must complete a minimum of three (3), four-hour shifts between April 5-8, 2019. Note: this time frame overlaps with some local school districts’ spring break.

After meeting volunteer requirements, future volunteers will have to sign registration and liability waiver paperwork. A background check will be administered. Volunteers will select one orientation session in March 2019 and three shift times in April 2019.

People who volunteer will receive a special 2019 NCAA Final Four uniform and an invitation to the post-Final Four Appreciation Event in the Twin Cities in Spring 2019.
