ST PAUL, Minn. — Griffin Fenske is a home run hitter.
The 14-year-old from Eagan will be competing in the fourth annual Major League Baseball Jr. Home Run Derby national finals next month during All-Star Week festivities in Cleveland.
Fenske says he wasn’t very good when he first started hitting homers but now has a knack for it!
“Baseball was what I really wanted to do. We just kept working, I quickly improved and I became the player that I am today,” he said.
Griffin recently took part in batting practice at CHS Field in St. Paul where he put on a hitting clinic.
Griffin’s dad Ron saw him win the regional title back in early June in Chicago.
“When he won the competition it was just an amazing feeling. I was so proud, I got a little misty-eyed,” he said.
Griffin will take his swing against nine other regional winners on July 6 at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
He will also participate in a number of All-Star Week activities.
