Timberwolves introduce top-pick Jarrett Culver, other rookies

In a press conference Thursday, the Timberwolves introduced the No. 6 overall pick Jarrett Culver and their two other rookies.

ST PAUL, Minn. — In a press conference Thursday, the Timberwolves introduced the No. 6 overall pick Jarrett Culver and their two other rookies.

Culver, the Texas Tech star who helped the Red Raiders reach the NCAA title game at U.S. Bank Stadium in April, was acquired by the Wolves via trade on draft night.

After sitting out all of the Summer League games in Las Vegas, Culver stressed that he's hungry to play, excited about the way he fits into the team and has already begun working hard to improve.

In fact, Timberwolves coach Ryan Saunders told the media Culver beat him to gym early Thursday morning, long before the press conference started.

"It's probably my first time whether it be as an assistant or a head coach that a player really beat me to the gym," Saunders said. "He was in there with a full lather. That got me excited."

Earlier Thursday, the Wolves signed undrafted free agent Naz Reid to a multi-year deal. Reid impressed the team during Summer League, showing off his versatility at 6 foot 10.

Second-round pick Jaylen Nowell was also in attendance.
