General MIlls is voluntarily recalling 5-pound bags of unbleached flour with a 'best-used-by' date of Sept. 6, 2020 due to concerns over E. coli.

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — General Mills is announcing a voluntary recall of Gold Medal five-pound bags of unbleached, all-purpose flour with a specific date stamped on them after tests revealed the potential presence of E. coli.

The Minnesota-based company says the bags impacted by the recall have a better if used date of September 6, 2020. All other Gold Medal flour products are unaffected by the recall and considered safe. General Mills says the recall only affects that one date code, and is being done with an abundance of caution as no reports of consumer illness have been reported.

Consumers are asked to dispose of the flour affected by this recall. Those who have to discard products may contact General Mills Consumer Relations at 1-800-230-8103, or visit www.generalmills.com/flour.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) continues to warn that consumers should refrain from eating any raw products made with flour. E. coli O26 is killed by heat through baking, frying, sautéing or boiling products made with flour. All surfaces, hands and utensils should be properly cleaned after contact with flour or dough.
