ST PAUL, Minn. — Authorities say one person is dead after a fire in a multi-unit apartment building in the 400 block of Front Ave. in St. Paul on Saturday.
When firefighters arrived they discovered smoke coming from one of the building's second story apartment units.
Upon entering the unit, one victim was located and promptly taken to the hospital where the individual was later pronounced dead.
Inspectors believe the fire to have been caused by smoking, but the situation remains under investigation.
No other injuries were reported.
This is the first fire fatality in St. Paul in 2020.
