EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Two adults and two children were taken to a local hospital after a massive multi-home fire early Friday morning in Eden Prairie.
Officials were called to the 10000 block of Lee Drive at around 12:30 a.m. on a report of a house fire. When crews arrived, they found flames in two homes.
"I can't tell you (with) 100% (certainty), but it's likely that one of the structures ignited from the first structure," said Eden Prairie Fire Chief Scott Gerber.
In a news release on Friday afternoon, the Eden Prairie Fire Department said the occupants of both homes escaped, and all four of the people hospitalized had non-life-threatening injuries. Three of the victims were treated and released, while one adult remained hospitalized as of Friday afternoon to be treated for burns.
Firefighters said two dogs and three cats are unaccounted for after the fire.
"Damage to both homes is significant, and the fire also affected nearby structures," the news release stated, adding that victims have moved to temporary housing.
Fire investigators continue to look into multiple reports of an explosion before the fire, as well as the cause.
