Former Gov. Jesse Ventura enters 'the cannabis game' with brand launch

Former Gov. Jesse "The Body" Ventura announced on his Substack that he's partnering with Columbia Heights' Retro Bakery to launch a national cannabis brand.

MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesotans know Jesse Ventura as a lot of things: former professional wrestler, actor, mayor of Brooklyn Park, 38th governor of Minnesota, MSNBC host, author, Cameo personality and conspiracy theorist.

But if there's one thing we know Jesse unequivocally still is, is a noted supporter of legalized recreational cannabis. And now, he's got the brand to prove it.

Former Gov. Jesse "The Body" Ventura announced on his "Die First Then Quit" Substack that he's partnering with Columbia Heights' Retro Bakery to launch a national cannabis brand, Jesse Ventura Farms. According to the Substack, Ventura will officially introduce the brand at a meet-and-great — on, you guessed it, April 20.

"A lifelong dream has finally come true! Thanks to a diverse group of creative and dynamic individuals who have been working diligently over the last few years, I can finally announce that today, Gov. Jesse “The Body” Ventura, is in the cannabis game," Ventura said in a statement. "I can’t tell you how truly amazing this feels. To finally be able to LEGALLY share with you, products from a plant that has had such an amazing impact on my life. Not to mention the historical significance of being the first U.S. Governor to officially put his name on a Cannabis brand. Each step brings us closer to finally ending this tragic and dangerous war on drugs."

For a $100 ticket package, the event promises the chance to "rub shoulders" with the former-public-servant-turned-entrepreneur, and includes a gift card to Retro Bakery and "exclusive Jesse Ventura Farms swag to rep your newfound cannabis hero."

With the stroke of a pen, Gov. Tim Walz made Minnesota the 23rd state to legalize cannabis for adult recreational use last year.

"This has been a long journey," Walz said ahead of the signing.
