BENTON COUNTY, Minn. — Two women died on Saturday after their UTV collided with a pickup near Maywood Township.

Sheriff Troy Heck with Benton County Sheriff's Office said around 2:20 p.m., his office received a report of a crash between a UTV and a pickup on Ronneby Road Northeast.

When first responders arrived they found a 2011 Chevy Silverado in a ditch near a UTV that was fully engulfed in flames. People at the scene had already pulled two women from the burning UTV before police arrived.

Both women were pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. As of Sunday their names and ages have not been released.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 57-year-old man from Foley, had minor injuries from the crash and trying to help the women in the UTV.

Officials said witnesses reported that before the crash the UTV was driving down the middle of the road at highway speeds. Investigators said the UTV was headed south while the truck was headed north; the two collided near the centerline of Ronneby Road.

The investigation is ongoing. Deputies said they did not detect any signs of impairment from the pickup's driver.
