How to watch the Minnesota Twins following Bally Sports blackout

After the Bally Sports blackout, fans are looking for new options to follow their hometown team.

MINNEAPOLIS — Following Tuesday night's Bally Sports blackout, a lot of Minnesota Twins fans are struggling at the plate when it comes to finding ways to watch their hometown team.

Around 10 p.m. Tuesday, a message popped up on the screens of Comcast-Xfinity customers regarding an ongoing contract dispute with Diamond Sports Group (the parent company of Bally Sports North) explaining they no longer have the rights to carry Twins content.

Comcast-Xfinity says customers will be proactively credited 8 to 10 dollars per month during the blackout.

The Twins game on Wednesday afternoon against the Chicago White Sox was the first impacted.

Diamond Sports Group says customers can still access Bally Sports content through other providers. Here are a few options:

Fubo

The Fubo streaming service carries Bally Sports on various subscription tiers starting at $79.99 per month. Fubo does offer a seven-day free trial.

DirecTV Stream

Bally Sports is also carried on DirecTV Stream, the satellite-free streaming version of DirecTV. However, the channel is only available on the Choice subscription tier (normally $84.99 per month, on sale for $74.99 with a two-year commitment) or higher.

Bally Sports Plus

Bally Sports has its own subscription streaming app, however Bally Sports Plus ($19.99/month) doesn't have the rights to carry Twins games.  Diamond does hold streaming rights to other sports and markets, with 38 teams across the National Basketball Association, the National Hockey League and MLB.

MLB.TV app

Unfortunately, the official MLB.tv app (currently $139.99/year) is not an option because the service currently blacks out games from the local team.

Diamond Sports Group filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March 2023 to restructure and deal with $8 billion in debt. The Twins are among an extensive roster of professional sports teams across the country that are impacted by the blackout that began Tuesday on Comcast-Xfinity. The teams affected include the Twins, Atlanta Braves, Miami Marlins, Tampa Bay Rays, Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Guardians, Kansas City Royals, St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds, Milwaukee Brewers, Texas Rangers and the Los Angeles Angels.
