ST PAUL, Minn. — A rare — and stinky — opportunity has arisen for Twin Cities nature lovers: a Corpse Flower is about to bloom at Como Park Conservatory!
The bloom, native to Indonesia, will smell strongly of rotting flesh, but the pungent scent will only last a few days. Como Park staff said on their website this is the first time the plant, named "Horace" after landscape architect Horace Cleveland, will bloom since it arrived at the conservatory in 2019.
Going to check it out? The plant is visible in the Exhibit Gallery from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. If you're scared of the stink, you can still watch the bloom on Como Park's livestream.
There are fewer than 1,000 Corpse Flowers in the wild, and these plants can reach up to 15 feet tall.
