Gov. Walz orders flags at half-staff for Nat'l Guard members killed in helicopter crash

Each Guard member will be individually honored on the day of their interment.

ST PAUL, Minnesota — Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has ordered all United States and Minnesota flags at state and federal buildings to be flown at half-staff on Thursday, Dec. 12, to honor Warrant Officer Candidate Kort M. Plantenberg.

Plantenberg was one of three Minnesota National Guard members killed when their UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed in Stearns County on Dec. 5. His funeral mass is scheduled to take place at St. John's Abbey Church in Collegeville on Thursday.

A statement from the governor's office notes that similar honors will be extended to two other victims of the crash, Chief Warrant Officer Two Charles Nord and Chief Warrant Officer Two James Rogers, Jr., on the day of their interment.

Rogers, Jr. will be remembered in a service Sunday at Howard Lake-Waverly High School. A visitation and funeral for Nord will be Monday, Dec. 16 at Perham High School.
